Choosing a takeaway

It’s Friday and it’s been a long week. You stuck to the diet fairly well and work was ok so it’s time to give yourself a little reward. Your friends and family have opted for a takeaway. This makes your mind race with delicious thoughts of tasty foods sliding down your throat, your week went well so you can have a treat as you deserve it, you want to join in and not be the miserable one. Your mind flips. You have been good this week and this takeaway, as much as I want it, will undo all the good work I have done this week.

What do you do? If you don’t join in, you will feel left out. If you don’t order anything and opt for a low-calorie meal in the fridge you will be like a begging dog desperate to be thrown titbits from the food trays. You don’t have long to decide. The food choice has been decided, it’s Chinese, your favourite! Ok. Keep calm. Order your food. No deep-fried prawn balls or chicken soaked in sweet and sour sauce. Go for a chicken and cashew nut dish plus a spring roll. Skip the rice and noodle dishes as these are covered in oil. This is your dish and you really cannot start sharing as this will up your food amount.

Tip: when the food is delivered, keep yours on a plate and mention to others that this is all you fancy tonight. Keep chatting through the meal as this keeps your mind busy and not on what others are munching on. Forget the banana fritter, no one on earth should eat those. Throw away all uneaten food quickly. I spray with kitchen cleaner before the food goes into the bin as it has been known that I will still eat leftovers from the bin!!
