Hello.

Hello, I am Kristen, a qualified Health Coach from the College of Naturopathic Medicine and a member of the Association of Naturopathic Practitioners and the Nutrition Society and the  British Obesity & Metabolic Society.

I specialise in helping with weight loss surgery before, during, and after the procedure. I focus on nutrition to nourish and enrich your body and help you gain health and vitality.

I was overweight since childhood, and the weight kept piling on in my teens. I tried every diet, and I tried hard to lose weight. Finally, five years ago, I had the gastric sleeve fitted, and looking back, this decision was easy for me.

I thought it would be the solution to all my weight worries, and to a point, it is: it is a tool for weight loss. However, suppose you do not address your eating issues at any stage after the procedure. In that case, the weight can creep back on, even with a tiny tummy. I can help you coach yourself to become a healthy person.

Over the past three years, I have studied and worked with clients to understand what they need to make their weight loss surgery a permanent success whilst also benefitting from good health inside and out. I work closely with clients to tailor an individualised approach that meets their needs and lifestyles, and each case is a fascinating and rewarding challenge. This inspires my genuine desire to help those who have been overweight become healthy and full of vitality.

I continue to study and research information in this field as vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) is for life, and the evidence about it and how to get the best from the procedure continues to grow. I aim to help you enjoy all the benefits long-term and feel amazing. In addition, I want to help you look after your weight loss, and together, we will learn the best ways for you to eat to ensure a healthy forever body as best we can.

As a qualified Health Coach, my initial assessment will look at all areas of your life and coach you to make positive changes that will give you the best chances of successfully reaching and maintaining your weight goal. In addition, a VSG is a real bonus to your new life; your family and friends will enjoy and celebrate seeing you become healthy, self-assured, and happy. More often than not, this new eating approach to food spreads through the family, giving everyone a chance to enjoy a better relationship with food and a better life.

Since my weight loss surgery in 2017, I have lost eight stones (nearly 50 kg). I have had extensive plastic surgery, called abdominoplasty surgery, that was more than just a tummy tuck. It has been a challenging journey, and today, I still work through my meal plans and keep a check on my weight and health. The positive perspective is that eating the right foods in the right portion sizes works, and you lose weight healthily. The VSG is simply the tool to underpin your journey. You do not have to think about the latest diet craze or live the keto-way for less than a fortnight because it is tedious, impossible, and usually leads back to where you began.

We have all encountered stories of celebrities who have had weight loss surgery, which sounds like they have 'cheated' or taken a terrific shortcut to weight loss success. There is no cheating with a VSG. You cannot slip out, eat a gigantic pizza, down a litre of diet coke down your throat, and start the following day again with the diet. I also see significant numbers of body-positive influencers online, which is correct and excellent, but I worry about their long-term health. Be positive, and enjoy being you. Let's do a health check each year and recognise that we must work with our bodies and appetites to stay healthy and happy for ourselves and our loved ones.

I understand (and have experienced) every part of your journey. This ranges from the initial thought process about getting a VSG to preparing for the surgery, living on liquids for four weeks, finding ways to eat the food you once loved but didn't do you any good and then wanting to eat the right food for you.

We have food that lifts the soul, food that gives you energy, food that makes you feel good inside and out, and food that tastes good.

I love food and have always loved food. Don't give up what you love, but love what makes you fabulous.
