Would it be just wonderful to correctly eat every day of your life and thoroughly enjoy it?
It doesn't happen often, but when it does, it feels good and positive. My soul feels alive, and I have energy that makes me smile. So how do these days happen? Sometimes they are planned, but even the best-planned days can fail, though failure is a strong word to use here.
For me, I find sleep plays an important to my following day. If I have exercised correctly and been active, then I generally sleep better. I do drink tea at night and look at my phone. I am not an angel. Anyway, if my sleep was good, then I generally wake up feeling quite refreshed. Then I can leap out of bed, head downstairs for a coffee. Let us not forget that I find a warm drink before eating well to relax the tummy muscles and welcome food more efficiently. So I make a warm soya latte which takes away the need to guzzle food. Now let’s begin with my perfect eating day with a sleeved tummy.
Breakfast is a small (ramakin) bowl of no added sugar swiss style muesli with milk, and this is my perfect food day. I chew each mouthful well to ensure that the food is ready to enter my little tummy.
About an hour later, I like to drink a cup of tea and have two or three soft prunes. Prunes can me feel quite full but not uncomfortable and provides me with a lift of positive energy.
Lunch, I never forget lunch. Lunch on a good day will consist of smooth peanut butter, Scottish oat biscuits and a small mixed salad. Again, I don't use a normal-sized plate, nor do I use a side plate. My plate is the size of a saucer. I cannot emphasise enough how small the servings should be.
Suppose I am not at home for lunch and haven't packed food with me, which is not good. So I will head to a Pret for a side of soup, and if this is not possible, I will eat half a prawn and mayo sandwich, no more than half as I know that it will be too much and in public I cannot take the risk. Oddly though, a small mini pork pie goes down ok if I chew it well.
Time for an afternoon snack of a homemade protein ball. I generally make a batch of these up at the start of each week. Easy to slip a couple of these into a handbag. One of these nourishing balls can fill me. Or a small banana, nothing too complicated. Again, if I am out and about and need a snack, I will hope for a nice banana. Gone are the days when I can munch on a packet of crisps and a chocolate bar.
For me getting it right, having a perfect day means that my tummy is comfortable with anything that I eat and what I eat gives me positive energy and positive emotions.
Dinner, for me, is quite often a sore point in my day. When I am tired, I know how easy it once was to order a takeaway. However, even a straightforward dinner can go very wrong if not planned because I can sit down with my small plate of food and eat too fast. The evening meal will already be in the slow cooker or in the fridge, ready to be assembled on a good day. I am talking a slow lamb casserole with vegetables and mash potatoes or a hot sunny day, a colourful salad decorated with avocado and a poached egg. Dessert would be a bowl of sliced strawberries and Greek yoghurt with a sprinkling of protein powder for a refreshing treat later.
Each meal is small and perfect. Each meal is balanced well. Each meal is tasty. Each meal leaves your tummy comfortable.
