Introduction and Goal Setting (10 minutes)

  • Welcome and hello, foster a supportive environment.

  • Discuss the importance of optimising nutrition post-VSG surgery.

  • Set specific goals for improving eating habits and incorporating more nutrient-dense foods.

 

Understanding Nutrient Density (15 minutes)

​

  • Define nutrient density and its significance for post-VSG nutrition.

  • Discuss the key nutrients essential for health and well-being, such as protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre, and healthy fats.

  • Provide examples of nutrient-dense foods and their benefits for promoting satiety, energy levels, and overall health.

 

Assessment of Current Eating Habits (20 minutes)

  • Conduct a thorough review of your dietary patterns, including food choices, meal timing, portion sizes, and hydration status.

  • Identify areas of improvement and potential barriers to consuming more nutrient-dense foods.

  • Chat about preferences, cooking skills, and cultural influences on food choices.

 

Customised Nutrition Planning (25 minutes)

  • Work together to develop a personalised nutrition plan focusing on nutrient-dense foods that align with their dietary preferences, lifestyle, and nutritional needs.

  • Discuss the importance of lean protein sources, whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats in every meal.

  • Provide practical tips for meal planning, grocery shopping, and food preparation to make nutrient-dense eating more convenient and enjoyable.

  • Address common nutritional concerns post-VSG surgery, such as protein intake and hydration.

 

Meal and Snack Ideas (15 minutes)
