Diet Plan For Festive Food Indulgence

It’s Christmas and we all like to indulge in rich and delicious meals and snacks, but we know our tummies will feel bloated and energy levels will be sapped. The box of chocolates and bowl of crisps will be at arm’s reach as we sit in front of the telly munching, without taking any notice of how many times our hands dip in the food and the circle of guilt consumes us as we consume our additional food.

We use the excuse ‘it’s Christmas’ and this saying forgives us as we indulge the mouth with high calorie and high fat foods that taste good and for the length of time that food is in our mouth the world is a wonderful place.

The Christmas food shop becomes a self-inspired excuse for over buying what you normally buy plus the additional multipack bags of crisps to munch on the sofa, biscuit crackers for the large chunks of cheese and chutney to eat after a large meal, and thick chocolate biscuits to dunk in tea and coffee. The list is endless.

Supermarkets love Christmas because they know the shopping habits of us so well and will plan their aisles to have all the profitable but unnecessary foods, arranged to look necessary.

You can enjoy Christmas! We have had crap year and this Christmas make a gift to yourself to eat and feel well. Have a go at making your own snack food before the holidays begin. Snack on foods that actually fill you up quickly. Pile your plate full of vegetables. Go for that walk before and especially after the Christmas dinner and let your walking movement help digest your food. With a little careful planning you can still tuck into a Christmas roast and relax in front of the telly. Go to bed happy and not so full that you can barely turnover at night. Trust me you will wake up the following day with more energy and vitality.

We know that we will put on a few extra pounds and that’s ok if we plan for it.
